About the Club:
The Bedminster Flyers Cycling Club (BFCC) has been a recreational cycling club in the Somerset Hills area of NJ for over two decades. Members are called Flyers.
We are a road bike club. We have one standing ride per week – on Wednesday evenings from April through October, always starting at The Sports People, at 49 U.S. Route 202 in Far Hills NJ.
As many as 70 riders may show up for the ride. We break up into 4 groups based on ability (fastest to slowest: A, B, C, D) and more as necessary for safety. Members frequently schedule ad-hoc rides from various other starting points as well.
The Club is a member of the League of American Bicyclists (LAB). In accordance with the LAB guidelines, each participant on Club rides must be a Club-member and sign a membership waiver. The LAB guidelines do allow for one-time guests. After their first ride, guests must become members to continue riding with the Club. In addition, all participants must sign another waiver before every Club-sponsored or -promoted ride.
To abide by the LAB's insurance requirements, we must enforce the one-time guest rule and sign-in before every ride.
To ride with the Club on Wednesdays or other Club-promoted rides, you must be a member and complete the paperwork.
- Park in the gravel lot, the shed parking, or the Far Hills train station. Sign in at the table in front of the Sports People.
- Directions indicating where each group should meet will be on a diagram at the sign-in table. Usually this will be back by the parking lots.
- Groups should be split as necessary to achieve a maximum size of 10 riders. Several riders have volunteered to lead if required.
- Routes are chosen by the ride-leaders and cue sheets are not handed out. Rides end before dusk.
- Launches should be staggered in ascending alphabetical order. Each successive group may leave once the previous one is out of sight.
- NO LEFT TURN out of the Sports People's parking lot.
