Our second event of the year, Ride Leader 101 usually takes place in late March.

Unlike many other local clubs, our rides are unstructured – without cue sheets. Our ride leaders lead (and sometimes follow) their group on a route of their choosing on the day. We have an inventory of routes – some with cue sheets, some as GPS files – for those who are willing to lead but aren’t confident they know the roads well enough to plan a route from memory. Many are found on the Routes page on this website, others are in a loose-leaf book in The Sports People shop.

We get the volunteer ride leaders together to discuss what it means to be a ride leader. Even for those aren’t up for leading a ride, we can all learn from the discussion about ride safety & management. It usually takes about an hour, and we have pizza at the end.
