Arrive between 9:15-9:30 if you can, but ANYTIME before 11 is welcome! We will split up and pick up trash along the side of the road for our one mile of Lamington Road.

Because of the continuing risk of acquiring COVID, if you attend a club ride you are required to follow the below-posted guidelines. If you don’t feel that the guidelines work for you at this time, please hold off riding with the club.

Bedminster Flyers Cycling Club rules for reopening due to COVID-19.  *These rules apply to any group ride that is posted by a member on our Facebook page.*

  • Do not participate in any BFCC ride if you are feeling ill.

  • Rides will be limited to a maximum of 6 people in a group. Riders should split into smaller groups and choose leaders based on riding levels in advance of the ride starts.

  • All riders must have a face covering (masks, buffs, neck gaiters, etc.). Face coverings must be in the “up” position before and at the start, and at the finish of the ride, and any place where the group stops for more than a few minutes.

  • Proper social distancing of at least 6 feet must be maintained at the start and at all times during the ride, including rest stops, red lights, stop signs, mechanical stops, etc. Where this is not possible, face coverings must be worn and “up.”

  • Face coverings may be “down” on suburban and country roads but must be “up” where there is a perceived risk of infection, or where the ride leader asks that masks be “up.”

  • If more than one group is riding from the same start location, they must start at least 5 minutes apart. Groups should not rejoin one another during the ride.

  • Cyclists should ride in a single file and be at least 2 bike lengths apart, whenever possible. No riding in pacelines; drafting in a paceline does not allow for a sufficient distance between the bikes.

  • There is to be no spitting, nose-blowing or expelling fluids from your nose or mouth. Keep any tissues, handkerchiefs, etc. securely tucked inside your pockets.

  • It is recommended that all riders carry their own hand sanitizer or disinfectant wipes of at least 70% alcohol.

  • The ride length chosen should take into account the limited availability of rest stops.

  • These restrictions cannot be waived by individual leaders. Additional restrictions may be added and enforced by individual leaders as they think appropriate.

  • As always, ride leaders have the right to ask any rider to leave the ride when rules are not followed.

We wish to emphasize to our members:

  • Bicycle riding is inherently dangerous and that riding in a group can increase the participant’s chances of contracting COVID-19.

  • A rider needs to take reasonable precautions on the ride to minimize the spread of COVID-19 and will behave in accordance with the law and requirements as well as the recommendations of public health offices.

  • If a rider feels that it is their right not to wear a mask, they should not participate in the club rides and should not use the Club Facebook page to notify others of their rides.

  • Appearances count: In addition to actually riding safely, we want at all times to appear to the public that we are riding safely. That means strict adherence to social distancing, face-covering and numerical limitations.

When we hear from policymakers in New Jersey that we are able to carry out group activities, we will send an email to all of you with our first riding date. Of course we are allowed to engage in individual exercise routines, so feel free to cycle on your own. Just remember the 6-foot-distance regulation if you have a riding partner. Let’s all stay safe and healthy.
